About James Huff Asheville Photographer

James Huff is in his third decade as a commercial photographer.

His interest began in college when he took an elective course in photography while studying architecture.  After taking an advanced course, he realized he wanted to pursue a career in photography.

He studied color theory and processes, and became plant manager for a color lab where his boss was a fellow of the famed Royal Photographic Society in England. This was a time when Huff had the opportunity to begin shooting a variety of commercial work and benefit from the experience of a master at his craft.  It was during this period that he discovered motorcycle road racing.  Himself an avid sport rider, he combined his love of the speed and art of motorcycle racing with photography.  For the next ten years his work appeared in numerous national publications, and he worked on assignment for the big four motorcycle manufacturers as well as ad agencies and magazines.  It was then that Huff teamed with a photographer beginning a new business, and became a full-time commercial photographer.  After a decade of being involved in all aspects of the commercial studio, and shooting a variety of subjects, it was time for a change.  Wanting to concentrate on architectural, industrial, aerial and fine art photography, James Huff formed his own company: Huff Photo/Graphic, in upstate SC.  A dozen years later, he has relocated to western North Carolina.  He frequently travels out of state on assignment for his corporate clients.

His philosophy is straightforward:  quality and  pride in his work, delivered on time, at a fair price.

Huff is a licensed glider pilot and enjoys flying, designing and building furniture and stained glass when time permits.

James lives in Asheville, NC, with his wife Carol, step-daughters Jordan and Chloe, dog Georgia and attack cat Casey.
